I wish! I woke up nauseous, It has now been 22 hours since my last Percocet and I still feel like crap. Last night I felt better so I had dinner, then took 2 Tylenol and went to bed. I was not expecting to wake up sick again. I have been drinking ice water only, I took a Zofran, hasn't helped much. I showered and decided to ride my bike a little since I have been so sedentary and do not want a DVT. The bike still hurt my butt, thanks perineal post, but better than Tuesday. I am losing track of days as I leave my imprint on my mattress!
I plan on icing, icing, icing, and not moving. Luckily I have a laptop so really have everything I need with me. We had grand plans to go out for dinner tonight...we will see!

Oh Susie-dont you sometimes wish that just one time it would be easy? Sending hugs your way. I hope you feel well enough to go out to dinner tonight.
I'm glad to hear how the op went but your aversion to drugs makes my head spin (especially since I have to look all those weird names up to find out what they are!)
Can you tell me what the difference between codiene and oxycodone is? I havent got my specs and have been unsuccessful as yet.
I had a hard time after surgery pain med wise but then I was in hospital for 5 days so they just pumped me full of antinausea (I lost count the number of times the anaesthetist was rung for a rx for something else to try!) and had someone to hold the sick bucket. Straight after surgery I couldn't handle the pethidine pca pump, nor codine, and paracetamol does nothing for real pain and I am allergic to NSAIDs, my poor surgeon kept comming in in the mornings asking if I was getting enough pain relief, well if I could tollerate them I had a hospital full to choose from...physio is hard with no pain meds :(
But I can usually handle codiene (not sure why I couldnt after surgery), in fact I lived on it before and still do, I routinely take 60-90mg at a time when I want to do something (like swimming with Jess) so I am guessing that is more than you can do.
I know this is grasping blindly but is there some topical cream that has an anaesthetic affect that you could apply? being careful of the portals of course! and as for the nausea, have you tried some peppermint sweets that have peppermint oil in them to suck? probably sounds weird but it can help inbetween antinausea drugs and you dont have to be so careful about ODing haha!
oh as for me and school...I have had all my exams and waiting for results to come out and if I pass well enough then I have to wait to see if I get accepted, hopefully on the 23rd of Dec!
Felicia
Felicia, the names might be different here than in NZ. I think the issue is that I took too much, obviously, I was not downing the whole bottle, the bottle says 1-2 every 4-6 hours. I was taking 1 every 4 hours, go figure. This time it was Percocet, aka oxycodone, first time was vicodin, aka hydrocodone. They are all tylenol (acetominphin (sp?) aka paracetamol) with narcotic to enhace the effect of the tylenol. Thats about where my narcotic drug knowledge ends!
Good luck on exams! I am rooting for you! PT school is amazing!!!
One of the more common Paracetamol/Codeine combos here is called Codalgin.
Susie, I had a similar struggle after my surgery and even had blood tests to figure out what was wrong. Turns out I have a fairly common liver disorder called Gilbert's Syndrome...this causes a high level of bilirubin in the blood and affects the liver's ability to metabolise certain drugs eg Paracetamol. I was taking 2x Panadol (Tylenol) every 4 hours and was practically overdosing myself on that recommended dose! Now I know I can only handle a lot less than that, but it is hard to get the pain:tolerance balance right.
Still could be the effects of anaesthesia too.
Hope you are feeling better soon, nausea is the worst feeling (imo) and I'd rather have pain and not be able to move than feel the need to barf.
