Vacationing

I think the solution to my problem is not Synvisc, or cortisone or exploratory surgery, it is a lifestyle change. I am in Miami now, we have been here for a week, with nothing really to do. I have had a great week! My hip pain has been so manageable here, I think I will start doing nothing all day and solve this issue!

I agree, its houses and kids that are the problems, not us!
My recent hol in Spain confirmed that and had me come home a put the house up for sale (townhouse, 3 floors killing me)!

i agree...whenever i do basically nothing...i get better too. but then the laundry needs to get done and the dogs need to go for a walk..not to mention that i might enjoy a relaxing ride on the bike...and the blasted hip starts singing its tune again.

Louisa- did you really put your house up for sale bc of this? I guess I should consider myself lucky in my NYC apt!!! I go back to work today, we shall see what happens.....

Yes, this is a lovely house, but I can't go up and down all day long, it literally cripples me. I (tad obsessive here!)last week counted the average daily stair sount and did I think 525 stairs in one day. 30 in this house. NYC apt, blessed, though also because its New York and I fell in love with New York!! I live near Old York, UK not nearly as exciting!!

SoccerMum, I've seen your name before reading forums did you see Professor Schilders also?

Oh its a lonely old world this hip think, I expect my friends will catch me up and understand in about say 30 years!!!

sad you are getting rid of your house because of your hips. i have a story and half and the kids rooms are all upstairs...i just never go up there. probably just as well! :)

i can't vacuum or mop though. the darn house next time needs to come with a housekeeper.

i live in st. louis, louisa.

susie...how was the first day back at work? i think you will be fine for a few days...but the activity will catch up with you within the week. that is what i find whenever i "rest" the hip.

soccar Mom I'm new to this. Surgery FAI Pincer 3 months ago. Feel almost the same, except less likely to limp/waddle and can sleep on my front a bit. I think I'm supposed to be better, but not sure scope has mixed reviews, only grade 2 arthritis at a loss... is this what happend to you, is there any hope?

Hi Susie,
Can you compare the PRP injection to the injection that comes with the MRI w/contrast? I'm 14 weeks or so post-op and having a lot of soreness. I'm going to see next week if I'm a candidate for PRP and wanted to see how much it's going to hurt. No mention on the phone of a script for a vacation in Miami, unfortunately. Your kids are sooo cute!
Thanks,
CJ

CJ- My MRIs were never with contrast but I have had intra-articular injections (into the joint) of cortisone and lidocaine, I have never found these to be too terrible. My PRP injection was not into the joint, rather into the capsule. It was ultra sound guided, not fluroscopically guided, it hurt more but I think it was bc it penetrated different structures, and the needle was moved back and forth to disperse the PRP well (through the different muscle layers). I was told that if the PRP is "fresh", it hurts less bc they do not need to add preservatives to it. Mine could not have been fresher, they took the blood from my arm, spun it down and injected it into my hip within a matter of minutes. It didn't help my pain though, it has been 5 or 6 weeks and it has not gotten better. Most likely bc my problem is not in the capsule but in the joint itself.
