4 months and still on crutches

That about sums up my feelings right now. I just can't believe that I am still on crutches. I tend to compartmentalize my life by events- and there were abt 6 event post op that I wondered whether I would need crutches at. So far the answer has been yes. To add to the excitement, I have a raging case of trochanteric bursitis so bad there is a huge swollen area halfway between my butt and the outside part of my leg. It is so painful I want to take a knife an saw off that part of my leg. I've been away for abt 1.5 weeks and came home to my housekeeper/ nanny being on vacation. I unpacked from the trip and have been keeping my house clean.... I want to take the knife and cut off the rest of my leg. I have a call with my OS next week and an appt with my back up PT next week as well. I had a massage session today w my Reiki/ Energy/ craniosacral/ healing massage therapist. He wasn't able to go too deep on my op leg bc of all the inflammation. I am ready to take my crutches and....

This recovery is harder than I expected for you and I can understand your disappointment. Have they given you any idea how long they expect it to be before you can see improvements, did they anticipate this prior to this surgery?

Hi Louisa. No one anticipated this but I guess no one has ever had 4 scopes and then an open on the same hip. Plus a revision labral reconstruction. It is frustrating for me bc I remember my OS saying something like an open is not that much different than a scope...... I beg to differ. It may be all related to the screws, I don't know for sure. I don't even know if they can tell dr sure if the screw are the problem or not. I hope to have answers this week! Xxx

Will be praying for you again Susie. I had the inflamed bursa sac in my greater trochanter it hurt like hades and got the injection on april 29 by my os. It's been 13 weeks since I had multiple labral tears fixed and the microfracture of hip. I finally started doing better after problems with my si joint from being on 2 crutches and one leg for 8 weeks. I can't imagine 4 months. Hang in there.

I'm sorry Susie I didn't return to this particular post until after you had your injection. I guess you found out. It was easier than those steroid injections I've had in my lower back. Since my back discsectomy I've had 3 injections for 4 years now. Now with 2 for the hip that's 14 injections that I have let Neuro surgeons and ortho surgeons talk me into with no conclusive long term studies. Who knows what they do to ones body. I hope the shot eases ur pain. Take care I'm going to go to your newest post and ask you a ??
