I finally figured out how to get the blackberry pictures to show in full size, so I went ahead and changed the last pic I uploaded as well from the pool!

Hi
I have so enjoyed your blog and congrats on the pregnancy.

I am hoping that you will help spread the word. Myself and another hip sister have been working hard on an article on Hip Dysplasia and it was just published yesterday. It would be great if you'd link from your blog to it! Thanks Lauren

Susie,
So happy to find your blog. I had my surgery with Dr Stubbs in NC on July 29, 08. We drove almost 7 hours to get there. I have been in pain for 2 years, 4 doctors, xrays, 2 MRI's, Chiro, Physical Therapy and during one of the Mri's they found a tumor the size of a softball on my ovary (benign)thought that was the referring pain, a keenalog injection and aspiration that I thought I was going to die from that needle going into my right groin. Finally after going to UK sports center a Dr took one look at my x-ray said I had FAI said he would not touch me that there were only 2 Doctors in the USA he would trust to do the surgery he was on the phone and that was on June 10, 2008For 2 years going to the gym and trying to do spinning, running, kickboxing or working 12 hour shifts I am a RN has been impossible. I am 33 and have not even had my 1st child yet.
Dr stubbs found FAI, cartilage tears, labral tear, tons of inflammation and none of this showed up on the MRI, bone scan, xrays. He went by my symptons. He even took pics of my femoral head and the tears and inflammation for me to see. I have 2 small incision sites. I cant believe how weak this leg is though after all those yrs building it up. PT says I am doing great and stated the plan DR Stubbs sent back is so organized they have never seen anything like it. I am depressed though and like you said no one understands. It is like losing a parent no one understands unless they have been there. Just like most things in life. I am by myself most of the time also. That makes everything almost impossible. Well thanks for the site. Congrats with the baby!!!!!

Hi,
I sent my "care package" (X-rays, MRI etc,..) to Dr. Phillipon for review and he diagnosed me with a labral tear and Cam impingement. The first doc I went to in Portland (Dr. Herzka) diagnosed the tear but did not see the impingement. I need to have debridment and the labral repair with anchors. Yikes. I'm not only scared of the surgery and recovery, but also the cost. I have BCBS, but Phillipon is out of network. Sorry to ramble on, but Susie you are such a great source for information and inspiration. No matter what you don't give up and that's how I feel. Does having the debridment slow the recovery time?

Lauren- I have not had a single moment to read the entire article yet but will as soon as I can. Melissa- good luck with the recovery, it is great that you had a top notch surgeon and the FAI was caught and addressed. Maureen- The bone work does increase the recovery time, but in the long run, if you do not address it, and only take care of the labrum, most likely your symptoms will return, so in the long run, you are better off with the longer post-op recovery and dealing with everything in one shot!
