ICD-9 and CPT codes used for Hip Arthroscopy

Many people have been asking me what kind of magic I used to get my surgery paid for...well....none really. I think the OS office has a lot of experience dealing with it and billing correctly. My OS was also in network, which took a lot of headache away from this.
Below are the codes used for all 3 surgeries. Maybe one day in the distant future, if I find myself with some time on my hands, I will look up the up and add the name as well. For now, this is the best I can do...
And a link to an older post of what exactly was paid for each surgery

I have a question for you, but first let me describe my situation (if I may). I possibly will be having surgery for FAI and possible labral tear on both right and left sides(MRA is on the 15th). I am reading tons of info on FAI surgery and not sure whether it's worth it because of the lack of long-term research on its benefits. I am in pain, though, 24-7, but my pain is not groin pain (I actually had that 10 yrs ago but after 8 mos of PT it went away-- I am 38 now). I am (was) an avid triathlete, and for the last year have not been able to do anything because of this pain and tightness that is only in my hips and low back. I have chronic tendinitis in the glut med and bursitis in the greater trochanter. The pain starts in the side of my hip and begins to work its way around the top portion of my hip and into the low back/sacrum. My QL is very tight all of the time. I do have the catching in the adductor region and I have extremely tight psoas muscles. I can only walk for 10 minutes before I feel the pain and tightness begin and I feel like I immediately have to stop and stretch, even though it does not take the symptoms away all that much. When I shop or stop to talk to someone the same thing happens. I have had to quit my job as a Fitness Coordinator because I can hardly stand at this point. I am lost as to what to do now for work since my life has been all about fitness. Needless to say I am pretty depressed. My question to you is: Was the surgery worth it and how did you know whether to have Arthroscopic surgery or open surgery? Thank you for your time and any help you can offer. :) Kelly

soccermom-
Oh no, is this where you are at? If your arthirtis is that bad, then at your age I would definitley want to be resurfaced and not replaced. I don't know all the facts about the metal on metal, but it seems to be safe. Less chance of dislocation, better return to activity and possibly longer lifespan. Let me know what you decide!

Kelly-
I would always go with arthroscopic if it is an option. In your situatin though, I would first and foremost have a diagnostic injection since your symptoms are not straightforward. If this gave you relief then I would possibly proceed with surgery. I would also give PT a try since it does sound like you are havig alot of muscular problems. Let me know if you have nay questions and feel free to email me I am pretty good about answering emails quickly but sometimes forget to reply to posts on the blog!
